Bible Blast Memory

KINGDOM BOYS and KINGDOM GIRLS, along with the support of their parents, may decide to pursue the Memory program. The memory aspect of Bible Blast is optional. Recitation is done before each Blast event. Only one major memory award category per season is recommended for your child. This is to encourage a balance of involvement in the total BIBLE BLAST program and encourages an even pacing that is lost if a child is trying to accomplish too much, too quickly. Bible Blast facilitator’s approval for more than one level achieved per year is suggested.

A child may begin at Memory Level I. All other levels have prerequisites. For example: a child does not pursue the Sword of the Spirit category until Memory Level I and Memory Level 2 are accomplished.

There is an ABC and XYZ memory option for the younger KINGDOM BOYS and KINGDOM GIRLS (ages 4 through 2nd grade). This is a good way to begin the process of scripture memorization. These can be accomplished at any time along with other Memory Levels.

If a child’s recitation is not up to standard, this is not treated as failure, but as an opportunity to perfect his/her effort. However, we do not reward them for efforts that do not reach the standard. This would reinforce the confusing notion that standards of excellence are meaningless.

The child may need to bring his/her Holy Bible to recite memory work depending on their level. Please note that with the exception of the ABC scripture memory listings, different versions may be used. The family may choose which version they want to memorize from, but no paraphrased or amplified translations please.

As a rewards-based program, Bible Blast needs the parents to support it financially. In much the same way that you would buy your child’s soccer uniform and cleats and pay for the end-of-the-year pizza party, so too does Bible Blast function only with the committed financial support of the parents. All prizes are kept within a specific price range which the Bible Blast facilitator sets. If your child earns a quizzing prize or a memory reward, simply send that amount back in the offering the following week. This is the only way to allow Bible Blast to continue each week. Your stewardship is critical to the success of Bible Blast.

Awards will be presented within two weeks of a successful recitation with the exception of trophies which will be presented at an end of the season “Finale.” In order to keep track of your child’s progress, a Memory Record Sheet can be obtained from the head memory coach. The memory rules are on the following page.
