Seekers Award

The Seekers Award is for the child that wants to go above and beyond the usual discipline in Bible Blast. It is done by diving into the child’s own Holy Bible. The child will be encouraged to read “The Rest of the Story” each week. Seekers is not a memory award but certainly deserves a great deal of recognition for achievement. The child does not have to complete any memory levels before starting Seekers. The award is in addition to The Picture Bible devotion time within the family.

In The Picture Bible, under the heading for each story, is a listing of scriptures that the child can look up in their own Holy Bible and read for themselves. They will discover more and more facts about the stories - like adding meat to the bones, so to speak. The parent and child will both have to contribute to the pace and discipline of this award. There is a great deal to read, but inch-by-inch the Seekers Award is a cinch.

The child is to report their accomplishments each week (see next page). This award requires accountability sheets that are to be completed as the child works through this project. The ideal way to accomplish this goal is to have the child read to the parent the portions of scriptures and then answer the questions together. This award would need to be discussed and planned out between the child and the parent.

The reward for this level of commitment is unique. It is called “The Stuff” reward. Every child wants different “stuff.” What motivates one child may not motivate another. You, as their parent, know what would make your child beam. The “stuff” is to be kept private between the parent and child. This must be enforced in the strictest sense. Some may choose big monetary rewards, some may plan a special trip while other parents may reward the child with a fishing adventure and picnic in Grandpa’s backyard.

Bible Blast is divided into 24 weeks. Some church programs do not meet at the church for all Bible Blasts. The Seeker Award child keeps on reading whether Bible Blast meets or not. Pace your child for success. This award can be accomplished over several years if you choose to do so. A Seekers reproducible sheet is included on the next page as an example of what is expected.

At the Bible Blast Finale, the child will be awarded a Seekers trophy and a Seekers t-shirt. Check it out on BibleBlast.com.
